Evaluation

Me and Jemma picked the song polite fiction which is by Polite fiction and Audiodile. The Genre is a mix but is mainly alternative and electronic. This was the song I chose and we picked after I convinced Jemma. Me and Jemma combined our ideas to create a living life to the full idea which matches the song.

During pre-production I had to plan the shots and produce a full explanation of the story by using storyboards and scripts. I also had to plan what equipment we were going to use, how to attain the equipment we wanted and how we wee going to take the equipment to the shoot. We made our actor sign a contract, just as if it was a real production. But we also promised our actor that during the filming he wouldn't be hurt, or be doing anything extreme, that could injure him in anyway.

During the shoot we had to rely on natural light. This was due to the lights that we were going to use were too heavy and there was nowhere to plug them in. This meant that the time of shooting was very limited due to the time of year and also that some of the shots weren't very well lit.. The canon 600d was very easy to use because I use it all the time anyway. This camera is also very portable which meant that it made it easier to carry around.

There were some obstacles with the filming as we were in public so people would walk pass the camera, pacifically people with dogs who didn't have a leash so they would come over to us. The locations were very limited because we had to use Shoebury which didn't have a lot of locations that were interesting. Also, some minor problems were that the actor was slightly late on certain dates and the temperature was cold.

During editing I felt rushed towards the deadline which left me dissatisfied with the final product. Although, Jemma told me she liked it so I just assumed that I didn't like that much was due to editing it for the time period. While editing I found myself not being very organised which meant that the editing process took longer than it should've. I used Final Cut Pro which was easy to use because I have used it before. I had enough clips to make a music video but I would've liked more. I also wanted to colour grade some of the shots but due to time it could not be done. Overall I had 20 minutes of footage but there were several takes with certain shots. There were a few unusable shots which were due to either laughing, shadows or the camera was to shaky. The shots I used were by far the correct ones to use.
